An elderly driver was arrested for fatally hitting a couple and a child on Saturday in San Francisco, United States of America. According to the North American press, one of the victims is Portuguese.
Matilda Moncada Ramos Pinto38 years old, Portuguese, Diego Cardoso de OliveiraBrazilian, 40 years old and one of his children, Joaquin Ramos Pinto de Oliveira at the age of about one and a half years they died at a bus stop. The only survivor was a child, also the couple’s son, about two months old.
The newborn was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, a police source quoted by CBS News said.
Mary Fong Lau, 78, was arrested Monday for homicide while driving, negligent driving, reckless driving with injury, wrong-way driving and driving over the legal limit.
The family was planning to take a bus to the San Francisco Zoo to celebrate the couple’s wedding anniversary, a source close to the victims said.
The Portuguese woman was taken alive to the hospital, and her death was confirmed on Sunday.
According to local press reports, the couple’s family members are traveling from Portugal and Brazil to San Francisco.
