The Directorate General of Health (DGS) this Thursday warned the population to avoid a situation of poor air quality on Friday and Saturday due to the mass of suspended dust coming from North Africa.
In a note published this afternoon, the DGS explains that an air mass coming from the North African deserts carrying suspended dust is expected to cross mainland Portugal during March 22 and 23.
Due to this phenomenon, the DGS predicts “the emergence of a situation of poor air quality on the continent with an increase in the concentration of respirable particles of natural origin in the air, which will affect in particular the regions of Alentejo and Algarve, as well as the interior of the central region.
