Turkish President Receo Tayyip Erdogan this Saturday strongly condemned the attack on a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow on Friday, which killed at least 143 people and for which Daesh claimed responsibility.
“We strongly condemn this heinous attack on innocent civilians,” Erdogan said at the meeting in Ankara, stressing that terrorism “is unacceptable, no matter where it comes from or who perpetrates it.”
The Turkish government also condemned the attack in a message published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on social network X and shared by Erdogan.
“It is with sadness that we learned of the attack on a concert hall in Moscow, which resulted in numerous casualties and injuries,” the government said in a statement, expressing sincere condolences to the Russian people and government.
The attack on the concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow was condemned by political leaders of a number of countries, in particular the European Union.
On social network X, the Belgian Foreign Ministry expressed shock at the incident.
“Belgium is shocked by today’s shooting in the concert hall. […]. Our condolences go out to the families of all the victims of unjustified violence.”
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also condemned the attack, saying it would have “unpredictable consequences” and feared it could lead to “a new escalation in Ukraine.”
Aleksandar Vucic, who chaired an emergency meeting of the National Security Council convened for this purpose, expressed condolences to the Russian people and leaders and expressed hope that the terrorists would be apprehended.
Vučić recalled that on the 7th, the US Embassy in Moscow advised its citizens to avoid shopping centers in the Russian capital, and then in the UK.
The Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday evening appealed to the international community to condemn the attack.
Daesh, which has repeatedly attacked Russia, said in the Telegram messenger that the group’s militants “attacked a large concentration (…) on the outskirts of the Russian capital.”
The fundamentalist organization said the commando team had since “returned safely to base.”
The attack, which Russian media began reporting around 20:15 in Moscow (17:15 in Lisbon), was carried out by several armed individuals at the Crocus City Hall concert hall located in Krasnogorsk, on the outskirts of Krasnogorsk. capital of Russia, AFP reports.
