Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be under an orange warning due to disturbances at sea, the IPMA said this Sunday, placing 16 areas of mainland Portugal under a yellow warning due to snow, precipitation or strong wind.
An orange warning, the second most severe on a three-point scale, applies to seven areas of the north and central coast of mainland Portugal due to rough seas, from 12:00 Tuesday to 3:00 Wednesday. According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), “northwesterly waves of five to seven meters are expected, reaching a maximum height of 12 meters.”
Between Monday and Wednesday, these seven districts, as well as Faro, Setúbal, Beja and the autonomous region of Madeira, in particular the northern coast and Porto Santo, are under a yellow warning due to rough seas, with a forecast of “north-westerly waves with swells” ” four to five meters.”
