‘Imminent attack’: France raises terrorism alert to highest level

The French government has raised its terrorism alert to the highest level following the attack on the Crocus City Hall theater in Moscow, the agency said this Sunday. Reuters.

“After the attack, a meeting of the National Defense and Security Council took place in Moscow this evening. [de domingo] at the Elysee Palace at the invitation of the President of the Republic. Given Daesh’s claim of responsibility for the attack and the threats facing our country, we have decided to raise the terrorism alert to the highest level: imminent attack,” French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal wrote on social media X.

The highest level allows exceptional security measures such as increased patrols by armed forces in public places such as railway stations, airports and religious sites.

The terrorist attack in the Russian capital killed at least 137 people and injured 145. The Crocus City Hall theater caught fire, the roof collapsed, and 100 people had to be evacuated from the building.

In total, security services detained 11 people, four of whom were directly involved in the massacre. The four detained shooters are not Russian citizens, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. This Saturday, Daesh published a photo of the alleged perpetrators of the attack.
