The restaurant “Rei da Cachupa” in the Arroyos parish of Lisbon was robbed early this Monday morning. A cash register containing bills worth about 60 euros was taken from the establishment. CCTV footage captured the crime, which was committed in just 20 seconds.
“The police came to my door at 6:00 am. My neighbors also called me and told me that my restaurant had been robbed. (…) When I arrived, I saw my door… They looked like diamonds on the floor,” he told Tony Folkes, the owner.
To get into the establishment, the robber broke the glass in the door, the estimated value of which is 1,300 euros. The establishment will be closed for a minimum of 48 hours until entry is restored.
PSP was called to the scene, but referred the matter to the judicial police.
Arroios parish has recently been rocked by a wave of robberies, a situation that worries traders and residents.
