The PSP has arrested an alleged accomplice of the man who was killed this Monday after attempting to rob a policeman on Rua Atriz Maria Matos in Benfica, Lisbon, a PJ source told Lusa.
According to a source from the Judicial Police (PJ), at about 5:00 a.m., Homicide Squad received a call from PSP that a law enforcement agent had fatally shot a robbery suspect at his home.
According to the report provided by the SP, the agent was approached by an armed man on a public road while he was in his personal vehicle stopped at a traffic light in the Alges area in the neighboring municipality of Oeiras.
The suspect, according to PJ’s source, forced the agent into an open area, where he was joined by the detained woman, and they both forced him to drive the car to her house.
Already at his residence in Benfica, the policeman managed to take out his service weapon and fatally shot the man, and the woman who was waiting for him outside was detained by the PSP.
A source from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command (Cometlis) PSP previously told Lusa that at around 3:30 a.m. in Alges, the agent was approached by a couple and forced at gunpoint to go to an ATM and then home. .
The same source who spoke this morning also said one of the suspects had been shot in the chest, but could not say whether the suspect had been detained.
The case was transferred to the judicial police.
