Pepe brings the “dragon” closer to Jamor

It’s a great picture of the game, and Bruno Varela doesn’t look very good at all. Pepe scored with a header but was helped by the Victorian goalkeeper. A kind of half chicken that Porto Football Club takes home, referring to Jamor and satisfying hunger in times of little abundance.

If the classics on the eve of Luz were still fresh in the memory, then they quickly realized that in Guimarães the dishes would be different. The first half was painful for those watching and even more so for those playing, particularly in the case of Sanchez and Mangas – a brutal clash of heads in chilling action that led to a long pause.

A long break, which in turn led to some long discounts, a period in which there were finally reasons for interest: Gonçalo Borges, to the surprise of Conceição, earned a penalty from Bruno Varela and a few minutes later struck the Victorian goalkeeper, the best opportunity goal.

But if Bruno Varela went on top, the fall was hard when he returned to the dressing room. At the moment, the 52nd minute plays a decisive role in this confrontation. It’s true that Nico Gonzalez’s vision has a lot going for it: the cross goes straight to little Pepe’s head. The Brazilian’s gesture is not so brilliant and is even directed towards Varela, but he does not respond in the best way: the ball slips between his fingers, and Jamor’s dream threatens to slip away.

V. Guimarães really responded. He grew up on the field, but never won another corner. Danger always remained far from Claudio Ramos’s goal, even when recently introduced Joao Mario slipped, to the despair of Sergio Conceição, so adept with the aluminum python. On the other hand, Bruno Varela mitigated the damage and guilt – good saves from namesake Alan, Baro and Ivan Jaime. But the damage had already been done for the benefit of Porto. The jam is in sight, but first you still have to go home.

POSITIVE
THE CUP BRINGS HAPPINESS TO NICO
Pepe is the author of the goal, Bruno Varela is the main culprit, but one cannot fail to note the enormous merit of Nico Gonzalez in the perfect cross. In fact, this is another very positive performance from the Spanish midfielder. The Portuguese Cup will revive the spirit of the Dragon.

NEGATIVE
THE MOVEMENT THAT DEFINES THE GAME
There is no way to escape. Bruno Varela must do much more and better in a game that decides the game in the 52nd minute. It is true, as is often the case in the lives of goalkeepers, that he prevented Porto from scoring more goals. But that’s football: the damage was done.

ARBITRATION
GOOD
and bad decisions
It is unclear how the game was not immediately stopped after the violent clash of heads between Sanchez and Mangas. He forgave the cards led by Borevkovic, but decided well the game between Bruno Varela and Gonçalo Borges in the Guimarães penalty area.
