The average age of onset of alcohol consumption is 17 years for the general population, 16 years for men and 18 years for women. The survey also shows that around 12% of Portuguese aged 15 to 64 smoke cannabis, representing an increase of almost five percentage points since 2001. There are also more people smoking tobacco and gambling, with a particular focus on Euromillions.
