Liverpool’s move to sign Ruben Amorim continues. The Anfield Road club sees the Sporting coach as the ideal successor to German Jurgen Klopp, who has announced his intention to leave at the end of the season. According to well-informed sources in England, the Reds want to move quickly and have good reasons for doing so: to secure in advance the hiring of a manager coveted by other top clubs in European football; and complete the “handover” process by the end of this month to begin planning for next season as soon as possible.
Two senior Liverpool officials are directly involved in the recruitment of Ruben Amorim: chief executive Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes. The first contacts have already been established with Raul Costa, Ruben Amorim’s agent, to assess the coach’s intentions (to whom the English want to offer a three-year contract). This is a fundamental step for the English club, which will soon be able to agree on the departure of the coach with Sporting. In England they write that Liverpool wants to negotiate below the release clause (20 million euros for foreign clubs), and its directors believe that this is possible. Moreover, there is information that Amorim has a verbal agreement with Sporting President Frederico Varandas, according to which the cost is reduced to 10 million in the event of a top club appearing, as in the case of Liverpool.
Amorim remains coy on the matter, only guaranteeing that he will leave (on his own initiative) if he does not win any titles this season.
Arsenal take charge of Ghiokeres again
In addition to Liverpool’s interest in Ruben Amorim, the news in England also concerns the future of Victor Gyokeres. The press in this country continues to focus on Arsenal’s interest in the Swedish Sporting striker. The London club had emissaries in Leonin’s last two matches, both against Benfica. And you can move forward in the short term by making a formal proposal to the people in charge at Sporting.
