The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, has already familiarized himself with the government program and stated that “dialogue” is necessary for the adopted proposals.
Marcelo believes that with a minority government, dialogue is important.
“I think a minority government should naturally have debate in parliament and dialogue,” he said.
The President of the Republic also stated that the program presented by the government was “very different from others” he had seen.
“With unusual deadlines and commitments,” he added.
“There is a choice of urgent measures, and there is a need for urgent measures,” he noted.
The head of state warned that “we cannot wait long,” since “now there is no grace for many months.”
“In a month, two, three months, we can understand whether the most pressing problems can be resolved in parliament through dialogue, in the government by decision of the government,” he added.
