A 52-year-old man died this Friday as a result of an industrial accident in the municipality of Vila Poca de Aguiar, where firefighters found him under a tree, the head of the local corporation said.
Hugo Silva, chief of the fire department of Vila Poca de Aguiar, explained that when emergency services arrived on the scene, they found the victim under a tree in cardiopulmonary arrest.
He added that the man was immediately pulled out from under the tree and CPR was performed, but he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Vila Real Medical and Emergency Resuscitation (VMER) team.
The commander reported that the causes of the industrial accident, which occurred in the town of Carrica, in the municipality of Vila Pouca de Aguiar, in the district of Vila Real, are unknown.
The alarm was raised at 8:45 am and firefighters from Vila Pouca de Aguiar, three engines and nine operational personnel, as well as GNR and VMER were mobilized to the scene.
