PS This Thursday, PS said it hoped the government would “as soon as possible” reach an agreement with the teachers’ unions, but stressed that it must do so “thoughtfully, thoughtfully” and “within the country’s financial conditions.” .
Speaking to reporters in the Assembly of the Republic after the meeting of the PS parliamentary group, Eurico Brillante Diaz stressed that the PS “believes in the ongoing negotiation process” between the government and trade unions.
“The PS parliamentary group hopes that as soon as possible, under the conditions that exist in the country, it will be possible to reach a good agreement with teachers,” he said.
In a statement made before the PSD announced the education debate on February 22 and asked the government to negotiate the restoration of working hours, Brillante Diaz mentioned that the PS “believes strongly in the public school” and in the idea that “you can’t create a good public school without good teachers, without dedicated teachers.”
“The government, within the framework of the PS’s pre-election program and the government’s program, is striving to make this possible,” he stressed.
Brillante Diaz said that PS “understands the frustration” of teachers, which “is spreading to other civil servants and other civil servants”.
“Of course, I assure you that the government would be happy and interested in being able to assess teachers as quickly as possible within their career, but we must do this in a thoughtful, thoughtful and possible way,” he stressed. .
The parliamentary leader of the PS reiterated that the negotiation process “needs maturity” and “be possible within the country’s financial conditions”, but always aims to “improve the teacher’s career and increase the value of teachers”.
“We will always strive to contribute to the social world in schools, to the recognition of teachers and to the decision-making framework, which is always a difficult decision framework,” he said.
On the other hand, Brillante Diaz responded to Prime Minister António Costa’s statements that “a change in the strike law is out of the question.”
“The question of minimum services was raised due to the atypical strike of the STOP trade union, the arbitration panel determined the minimum services, which, as I understand it, are performed in general,” he said.
This Thursday, the Ministry of Education is meeting with 12 trade union organizations that are involved in negotiations on the competition and the employment regime, which is now the fourth round of negotiations.
