The Council of the General Assembly of FC Porto confirms the authenticity of the names proposed in the lists participating in the elections of the club.

The Council of the General Assembly of FC Porto this Thursday confirmed the authenticity of the candidates proposed on the lists participating in the elections of the governing bodies on April 27, respecting the statutory assumptions of the candidates who finished second in national football.

According to a statement published on the club’s official website, the body headed by José Lourenço Pinto approved the constitution of the candidates led by Porto’s current president Pinto da Costa (List A), former football team coach Andre Villas-Boas (B) and professor and businessman Nuno Lobo (C), the winning candidate in 2020.

Pinto da Costa proposes António Oliveira, João Rafael Köhler, Marta Massado, Vitor Baia, Vitor Hugo and Nuno Cerejeiro Namora as vice-leader of the council, and António Borges, Eurico Pinto, Luis Fernandes, Alipio Jorge, Rodrigo Barros or Ritu Moreiro as members

José Lourenço Pinto reapplies to the Council of the General Assembly, while Ricardo Valente, councilor of the City Council of Porto, seeks to succeed Jorge Guimarães as head of the Financial and Disciplinary Council in the A list, in which Americo Aguiar, cardinal and bishop of Setúbal stands out as the first member appointed to the Supreme Council.

If 86-year-old Pinto da Costa is trying to be re-elected as Porto president for a 16th consecutive term, then 46-year-old Andre Villas-Boas will make his debut in the club elections and has bet on Ruy Pedrota, João Borges, Thiago Madureira, Francisco Araujo and José Luis Andrade as “deputies” of management or Alberto Babo, Teresa Figueras and Joan Machado as members.

António Tavares, Ombudsman of the Santa Casa da Misericordia in Porto and former PSD deputy in the Assembly of the Republic, is running for the Council of the General Assembly on list B, while the economist Angelino Ferreira will compete for the Fiscal and Disciplinary Council. former financial administrator of SAD of FC Porto and vice-president of the club.

Fernando Freire de Sousa, president of the General Council of the University of Porto and former secretary of state, heads the group of candidates proposed by Andre Villas-Boas for the High Council, a non-executive body for which Nuno Lobo did not stand.

List C’s top man, 54, is accompanied by vice-presidents Dulce Paiva, Ruy Nascimento, João Manuel Proença, Nelson Neves and Maciel Carvalho or member Thiago Gomez, while lawyer Luis Barradas is challenging the leadership of the General Council. Assembly and manager Heleno Roseira will run for the Financial and Disciplinary Council.

There is also an independent movement led by lawyer and university professor Miguel Bras da Cunha (list D), which repeats the exceptional candidacy put forward in 2020 to the High Council and has submitted 30 names by Wednesday, with a deadline of 10 days for the submission of complete lists. ahead of the FC Porto elections for the four-year period 2024–2028.

The election event will take place on April 27 from 9:00 to 20:00 at the Estádio do Dragão stadium in Porto.
