SDP will refrain from proposals from BE and PAN to investigate the activities of Global Media Group

The SDP will abstain on Friday from voting on the BE and PAN proposals, which call for the creation of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into the activities of the Global Media Group.

The information was conveyed to Lusa this Thursday by the leadership of the Social Democratic bench.

To move forward, these proposals must be approved in plenary on Friday as neither PAN nor BE have enough MPs to introduce a mandatory commission of inquiry (one fifth of the MPs currently in power, i.e. 46 ).

With such abstention on the part of the SDP, a positive vote from the PS will be sufficient for its approval.

BE has put forward a motion for a parliamentary inquiry into “the actions of the social communications regulator as part of the Global Media Group ownership change process involving the World Opportunity Fund, LDA (WOF), including the group’s management. actions, present or past, that are relevant to the current situation of instability facing GMG and the outcome of the so-called “LUSA case.”

PAN proposed the creation of a parliamentary commission to investigate “the process of change of ownership of Global Media Group involving the World Opportunity Fund” and to evaluate the group’s “management practices and actions.”

Regarding the subject of this investigation, PAN wants Parliament to investigate and evaluate “the management practices and actions of Global Media Group and those responsible, including the sale of real estate assets and the destination of the relevant product in the period leading up to the change of ownership, to the extent that they could lead to changes in assets justifying the current situation of instability in which the group finds itself.”
