This Thursday evening, several people are protesting against the demolition of five illegal houses that took place last week in the Zambujal area of Loures.
Last week Loures City Council demolished five illegally built houses in a bid to “suppress the proliferation” of the structures.
Residents tried to interfere with the work, which forced the authorities to turn to the PPR and municipal police for support.
Without information on how many families/people lived in the structures, a source from the KML President’s Office said that prior to the demolition, a meeting was held between the municipality and the residents of Zambujal where a project to build 41 housing units in the area was presented with funding under the Plan recovery and resilience (PRR) for relocation of properly documented hazards.
