A 34-year-old man was arrested in Madeira on suspicion of committing a crime related to child pornography, the Judicial Police (PJ) said on Friday.
The memo states that the man was arrested at the scene of the crime and that a search of the home found “hundreds of images and video files consistent with content consistent with child pornography” on computer equipment used by the defendant.
The reason for the arrest was a complaint from the mother of a 14-year-old minor, who indicated that the detainee used a false profile, communicated with her daughter and asked to send photos and videos “for the purpose of obtaining sexual content,” says PJ.
The Criminal Investigation Department of the Madeira Judicial Police continues to investigate the case, which may allow the identification of other victims.
The detainee will be questioned at the first interrogation for the purpose of applying coercive measures.
