This Saturday afternoon, ten areas in the center and south of mainland Portugal will be under a yellow warning due to “occasionally heavy” rain that may be accompanied by hail and thunderstorms, the IPMA said this Friday.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the areas of Guarda, Santarem, Lisbon, Leiria, Castelo Branco and Coimbra will be under a yellow warning from 12:00 to 18:00 on Saturday.
Évora, Setubal, Beja and Portalegre are under alert from 12:00 to 21:00.
The IPMA Yellow Warning is due to the forecast of “Heavy showers at times, which may be accompanied by occasional hail and thunderstorms.”
A yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
