A couple of scammers, aged 49 and 52, were arrested after they scammed two elderly women in Mir and Mealhad. The suspects already have a criminal record, were sentenced to prison and were on parole when they committed the crimes.
Posing as family members of those killed at the age of 83 and 86, they convinced them to hand over money and gold totaling three thousand euros. The facts happened at the end of January, and meanwhile the defendants were detained by the soldiers of the People’s Republic of China.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the two devised a plan to defraud lonely elderly people in order to steal money and gold. In both cases, the defendant remained in the car while the woman went to a nursing home. During the GNR search, they seized gold items and 240 euros. They were charged with crimes of qualified fraud.
