New York City police entered the Columbia University campus on Tuesday evening and cleared out 30 to 40 pro-Palestinian protesters barricaded in the building, news agency France-Presse (AFP) reported.
A police truck with a ladder approached the occupied building, and journalists saw officers climb to a window and enter the building, AFP writes.
The action took place shortly after 9pm on Tuesday (2am today in Lisbon) as police in helmets and shields gathered at the entrance to the university.
On Tuesday, Columbia University threatened to expel students who occupied a campus building that day, barricading entrances and unfurling a Palestinian flag to protest Israel’s war against Hamas.
