The Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security (MTSSS) has sent the final audit report of Santa Casa Global to the Court of Auditors (TdC) in connection with the internationalization of social games, a source at the ministry confirmed.
According to the same source, it was Minister Maria do Rosario Ramalho who made the decision to send the audit results to TdC, adding that the audit had already been sent to the Ministry of State during the government of Socialist Minister Ana Mendes Godinho.
A source connected to the process assured Lusa that the consulting company BDO provided the final report on the audit at Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa.
At the beginning of the year, the institution sent a report on an external audit conducted by Santa Casa Global to the Ministry of Justice and the Court of Accounts with data collected until January 31, 2024.
The SCML Ombudsman and members of the Board were dismissed on April 30 and remained in office until a new team was appointed.
The government accused the former ombudsman of the Santa Casa da Misericordia de Lisboa (SCML), Ana Jorge, and members of the Council of “gross negligence” for influencing the management of the institution, which justified the dismissal.
Subsequently, in a letter sent to all employees, Ana Jorge accused the government of dismissing her in a “rude, arrogant and slanderous manner” and of being caught off guard.
Ana Jorge took office on May 2, 2023, chosen by the previous socialist government of António Costa, and inherited an institution in serious financial difficulties after years of the pandemic and the process of internationalization of social games carried out by the administration of the provider Edmundo. Martinho, which could have caused losses of around 50 million euros.
