The opening of the meeting of this body is the responsibility of Social Affairs Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos, closed to the media, contrary to what was initially announced by the party when PS President Carlos Cesar convened the National Commission. .

In this Political Commission, the Socialists will discuss the political situation and vote according to the internal election calendar proposed by the National Secretariat. This is the first election of this kind in the era of Pedro Nuno Santos as Socialist leader.
According to the official PS source, voting is being carried out on the proposal to hold elections to the sections, councils and council structures of Socialist Women – Equality and Rights, which will take place on July 5 and 6.
On September 27 and 28, elections will be held for presidents of federations, federal structures “Socialist Women – Equality and Rights”, political commissions of the federal structures “Socialist Women – Equality and Rights”, as well as delegates to congresses. federations
Congresses of the PS federations should be held on October 12 and 13, in accordance with the same recommendation in the table.
This new calendar comes after last November, following the resignation of António Costa, the National Commission canceled the internal calendar it had approved before the political crisis, which predicted elections for sections, municipalities and federations at the beginning of this year. .
According to the decision made then, these electoral acts in the district and local structures of the PS should take place in the period after the early legislative elections on March 10.
In the last federation elections in November 2022, socialist activists elected six new federation leaders in Braga, Bragança, Oeste, Porto, Portalegre and Vila Real, and re-elected the presidents of 13 federations.
