It will be news: EITB Data: Tourist homes, PNV accreditation and 100 years of the birth of Basterretxea

Summary of the main news that eitb.eus will publish today.

These are the topics that will occupy the main headlines from this Monday, May 6, 2024:

– EITB Data: Tourist homes: Donostia / San Sebastián, Bilbao, Pamplona and Vitoria-Gasteiz concentrate almost half of the tourist homes in Hego Euskal Herria. Donostia / San Sebastián, despite not being the most populated city, is the one with the most tourist homes: 1,286. The majority are in the center (448), followed by Gros (261) and the Old Town (120). Apart from the capitals, the coastal municipalities, with Bermeo (Bizkaia) and Zarautz (Gipuzkoa) in the lead, are the places with the greatest accumulation of tourist homes.

– Accreditation of PNV parliamentarians: This Monday the deadlines for the constitution of the new Basque Parliament begin to run, with the delivery of credentials to the 27 PNV parliamentarians. Although last Friday the only representative of Sumar, Jon Hernández, and that of Vox, Amaia Martínez, were already accredited, only when a third of the Chamber is completed (25 out of 75) does their journey towards the plenary session of the constitution begin. It is expected that by the middle of this month – specifically, May 14 is being considered – the plenary session to establish the Basque Chamber will be held.

Centenary of the birth of Nestor Basterretxea: It is 100 years since the birth of Nestor Basterretxea. The Basque artist came into the world on May 6, in Bermeo, and died on July 12, 2014 in Hondarribia, at the age of 90. Painting, sculpture, illustration, industrial design, mythology, cinema, architecture… The result of Basterretxea’s creative activity spreads into endless branches, all of them rooted in commitment and curiosity.
