Government sacks PSP national director. Luis Carrillo takes office

This Monday, the government dismissed the national director of the Public Security Police (PSP), Chief Superintendent José Barros Correia, who had held the post since September last year. For what CM Barros Correia was given the position when the new government came to power, police sources learned.

You know CM that the chief superintendent was summoned to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for dismissal.

Following these events, the Minister of the Interior, Margarida Blasco, appointed Superintendent Luis Miguel Ribeiro Carrillo, commander of the special police unit of the Public Security Police since October 26, 2023, as the new national director of the PSP.

In a statement, the MAI said that “this appointment decision is part of the operational restructuring of the PSP, both at the national level and in terms of the institutional and international representation of these public security forces.”

This Tuesday, a demonstration is taking place on social networks in front of the Assembly of the Republic to ask the MAI to explain the reason for the dismissal of José Barros Correia.
