This Wednesday, a court ruled that a man detained in Portimão on suspicion of distributing computer content of child pornography would be subject to compulsory psychiatric treatment and ordered biweekly meetings with authorities, a police source told Lusa.
Speaking to Lusa, the same source also said that a 27-year-old man of Portuguese nationality was also banned from approaching computer equipment after being questioned during the first judicial interrogation regarding the use of coercive measures.
The source has therefore corrected information originally provided by another police source that the arrest was based on an international arrest warrant and that the suspect would remain in custody pending his extradition.
The man was arrested by the Judicial Police (PJ) on Tuesday at the scene of the crime, following a complaint from international judicial cooperation mechanisms through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (in Portuguese: National Center for Missing and Exploited Children). ).
After filing a complaint, it was discovered that the suspect “repeatedly accessed, stored and distributed child pornography content on computer media,” the SP said in a statement.
