Marco “Orelhas” was sentenced to 18 years in prison and his son to 20 for the death of Igor Silva

Marisa, “Orelhas’s” companion, was sentenced to 1 year and eight months in prison, while Iara and Cassandra were sentenced to one year in prison. If the victim’s family is awarded compensation, the three women’s pensions could be suspended.

Diogo Meireles, Rui Costa, Sergio Machado and Miguel Pereira were acquitted.

The judge says the video images were important to establishing the truth in the case, but there are several statements from the accused that do not match the video footage available to the court in the case.

He adds that “there is no doubt” about the presence of Igor’s girlfriend at the scene.

Regarding the testimony of José Carlos Mendez, he states that during the trial he changed the version of his testimony several times and that twice he placed Diogo Sio in different places and is therefore not credible.

However, he says these statements played a major role in putting some people in their place while at the same time excluding others. Images also had a role in this.

“Viewing the images several times allowed us to identify the clothing and gait of the accused.” Isabel Teixeira says she took the clothes of the accused and the victim to identify people in the images she had access to.
