Home rents rose 7.2% in April

Rent per square meter of home rose 7.1% in April compared with the same month in 2023, which saw a 6.9% rise in the previous month, with all regions posting year-on-year increases, INE said.

According to the National Institute of Statistics (INE), in April, “all regions saw positive year-on-year changes in residential rents, with Lisbon recording the strongest growth (7.4%).”

In monthly terms, the average rental price per square meter of housing registered a change of 0.6% (0.9% in the previous month).

The region with the largest positive monthly change was Lisbon (0.7%), while there were no regions with a negative change in their respective average house rents.
