Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky canceled visits to Portugal and Spain, which were supposed to take place in the coming days. According to RTP, the cancellation is due to the intensification of Russian attacks on Ukrainian soil.
The presence of the Ukrainian head of state on the Iberian Peninsula was noted on Monday by the Spanish press. For security reasons, the exact date of the visit to Portugal was not initially given, but it was planned for Thursday.
This information was confirmed on Tuesday morning by National Defense Minister Nuno Melo. “The visit is being prepared with the caveat that it should be,” the official said before learning of the change in plans.
This is the second time Zelensky has missed a trip to Portugal. In September, a visit by the President of Ukraine was even planned, which was also cancelled.
