The President of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, said this Monday that the Muraria fire in Lisbon, which killed two people, should shake the conscience, stressing that “decent housing is a right for all.”
“Let the fire in Muraria, which claimed the lives of so many vulnerable migrants, at least serve as a shock to our conscience. Decent housing is the right of everyone,” Santos Silva defended in a post on the social network Twitter.
On Saturday evening, a fire broke out in a building in Lisbon’s Muraria district, killing two Indians and injuring 14, all of whom have already been discharged from the hospital.
