This Wednesday, the PSP arrested two men, aged 28 and 30, for burglarizing houses in Vila Real after a woman alerted them that they were breaking into her home, police said.
In a statement, the police said that a resident of Vila Real called them on the emergency number 112 and asked for help because two people were trying to break into her house by breaking the front door.
The PSP added that it immediately called police to the scene, managing to intercept and detain two individuals at the time of the crime, and also seized materials used to open the doors of residential buildings.
Police said the two men are “seriously accused of robbing houses in Vila Real” as well as other attempts to break into houses in the city, taking advantage of the absence of people to commit these crimes.
According to police, one of the suspects lives in the Porto area, while the other does not have a permanent residence in the country.
The detainees will be brought to the competent judicial authorities on Thursday for the first interrogation and the application of possible coercive measures.
Public Safety Police also took the opportunity to “remember that crime prevention starts with everyone” and urged police authorities to immediately report any situation that is considered strange and may involve the planning or commission of a crime.
