President Chegi announced this Thursday that the party has submitted to Parliament a proposal to create a commission of inquiry into the management and behavior of the previous heads of the Santa Casa da Misericordia de Lisbon (SCML).
According to Andre Ventura, Chega’s initiative, which is already on the parliament’s website, was put forward even earlier than another, from the Liberal Initiative, in the same sense, but he said that he was ready to work on a joint text.
“Chega has considered all possible tools to seek clarification, but last night we decided to initiate a parliamentary inquiry, which will be discussed in the coming days,” he told reporters in parliament.
Ventura said he does not want to “make the work of parliamentary commissions of inquiry easier” but believes it is “the only tool that can determine the truth about serious allegations of misuse of public money” at SCML.
“Today we will begin negotiations with PS and PSD” so they can make the initiative viable, he said, especially since Chega has already exercised its potential right to force a parliamentary inquiry (limited to one per legislative session) into the Brazilian parliament’s case. children are treated in Portugal.
According to the draft available on the website of the Assembly of the Republic, Chega intends to launch a parliamentary inquiry “to investigate the management, transparency of functions and the behavior of the previous responsible parties involved in the imbalance of accounts and the operation of the Santa Casa da Misericordia in Lisbon.” .
