Bilbobus workers reject the pre-agreement and continue with the indefinite strike

The Bilbobus workers have decided in an assembly to reject the pre-agreement reached this week by the Biobide company and the unions UGT, CCOO and USEmajority in the committee, so this Friday they will continue with the indefinite strike, which was suspended this past Tuesday in order to explain the pre-agreement and proceed to vote today, as reported by the works committee.

The pre-agreement established a temporary validity until 2027, with a salary increase in 2025, 2026 and 2027 referenced to the increase that employees of the administration of the Basque Autonomous Community have in those years.

This pre-agreement did not have the support of other unions such as ALS and LABwho have criticized that salary increases are not included based on the annual CPI and that the reference of these increases depends on the salary increase in the public service.

After closing this pre-agreement, the indefinite strike that Bilbobus workers had been on since April 9 was suspended this Tuesday and Wednesday with the aim of explaining the conditions of the agreement to the staff and proceeding to vote in the assembly.

After the result of the vote held throughout the day today, to which they were called 650 workersthe staff will continue with the indefinite strike this Friday.

From the concessionaire company, Biobide, after learning that the pre-agreement has been rejected by the Bilbobus staff, has indicated that this Friday the indefinite strike continues “with 30% of minimum services.”

The Federation of Associations of Bilbao demands a service “without intermediaries” and calls for demonstrations

For its part, the Federation of Bilbao Associations has shown its solidarity with the Bilbobus staff and has conveyed its support for the indefinite strike they have carried out since last April 9 to achieve a “fair” collective agreementwhile they have demanded a Bilbobus service managed directly from the City Council, “without intermediaries.”

In a statement, the Bilbao neighborhood movement has said that the municipal government “cannot and should not handwashing “in the face of a labor conflict in a public service that affects a large part of the citizens of Bilbao, in addition to the staff themselves.”

After ensuring that the municipal government “has been aware of this situation for two years,” he denounced that “it seems not to have been willing to take action on the matter to try to find viable solutions and thus reach an agreement that would give to end the strike and reestablish the service.

Finally, they have called on all neighborhoods to participate in the demonstration that will take place on May 23 from Zabalburu Square to demand “the much-demanded and necessary restructuring of lines and that Bilbobus be directly managed by the city council without intermediary companies.”
