The six accused were placed in preventive detention this Thursday after being presented at the Feira court following the arrest of 17 suspects by the PPR Criminal Investigation Center Oliveira de Azemeiça in a major drug trafficking operation.
Even after the first judicial interrogation, six people were forced to report weekly to a leadership position, and five required identification and residence permits.
Oliveira de Azemeis’ PNP arrested 17 people between 22 and 57 years old for drug trafficking in the Aveiro and Porto regions.
According to an investigation that lasted about a year, a group of suspects was involved in drug trafficking on public roads in the areas of Vale de Cambra, Oliveira de Azemeis, São João da Madeira and Santa Maria da Feira.
Authorities also seized 738 doses of hashish, 130 doses of cocaine, 150 doses of heroin, four doses of MDMA, eight vehicles, a flare gun, two sabers, a rubber baton, 4,600 euros in cash, various used materials in packaging and cutting of narcotic products and various materials related with theft.
To carry out the mega-operation, 154 soldiers from the criminal investigation structure, territorial and operational service from the territorial command of Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Porto, Viseu and the operational intervention unit (UI) of the GNA were involved.
The operation was also supported and collaborated by 50 PSP elements from the Aveiro District Command and the Porto Metropolitan Command, from the Criminal Investigation, Police and Special Police Units.
