A mother thought she had her son cremated four years ago after the 20-year-old autistic man died in a police shooting, but she was wrong. An investigation at the Return to Nature funeral home in Colorado, USA, found that the body of David Jackson Page was decomposing like 190 other corpses.
According to police, Christina Page, the young man’s mother, was told about the discovery by phone from the FBI. Mirror. The mother was horrified to learn that the ashes that were in her home belonged to another unidentified body. Christina Page never identified her son’s body because she was told the cremation had already taken place.
“It was absolutely devastating. I don’t know how to explain how I feel knowing that not only was my son kidnapped, but his body was desecrated. Most people fail to understand the gravity of the situation. When the FBI notified me I asked what condition David was in and was told that my son had been left naked and unprotected. He wasn’t even in a body bag or wrapped in a sheet. There was no dignity in it,” Page said.
The mother and the rest of the family want justice and are willing to pursue whatever legal means are necessary: “My son David was much more than just a body left to rot. He was so bright and brilliant and funny and smart.” Four years later, the family repeated the process, cremating David, and were forced to endure the same pain.
Funeral home managers John and Carey Hallford were accused of 190 counts of abuse of bodies, five thefts, money laundering and forgery. As a result, they were arrested with bail of more than a million and 800 thousand euros.
