Champions Sporting ended the 2023/24 Football League I today with a complete triumph at home, defeating relegated Desportivo de Chaves 3-0 in the decisive Leonina match of the 34th and final round.
At the Estadio José Alvalade, Sweden’s Victor Guioqueres scored twice, in the 23rd and 37th minutes, the first from the penalty spot, to consolidate his status as the tournament’s top scorer with 29 goals before Paulinho sealed the result in the 55th minute. Which was the 17th victory for the green-whites in as many home matches.
The Lions thus finished the league with 90 points, 10 more than second-place Benfica, who drew with Vila do Conde on Friday, while Desportivo de Chaves have a bye in 18th and last place with 23 points.
