The coordinator of Bloco de Esquerda said this Sunday that on Wednesday the party will propose the introduction of a four-day working week, the restoration of reduced holidays during the Troika and an additional five days of parental leave.
The coordinator of Bloco de Esquerda, speaking at a lunch with activists in Viana do Castelo, said the project, called Vida Boa, would be discussed as part of a potential agenda scheduled for Wednesday.
“He who loves the country wants the best for his people, without looking at who exactly. It is precisely this vision of the country that the Left Bloc does not abandon. Why can’t we work four days a week to have time for our children and to relax? (…) Why do you have to spend your life working so as not to receive the minimum wage or a salary that does not cover the house,” he asked.
For Mariana Mortagua, “a good life is a guarantee of replacing the vacations taken by the troika.” A good life is a guarantee for those who have children, five more days of vacation without any reason.”
“We know that having dependent children means more time needs to be spent with family, and that responsibility does not always fall on women. It depends on everyone, it depends on society,” he emphasized.
