On Tuesday, the government said TAP’s president should focus on management rather than “interfering in shareholder issues” after Luis Rodriguez said the state should retain its position in the company.
“I agree that the TAP President should focus on managing TAP and not interfere with shareholder issues. The President of TAP must focus on managing TAP and TAP needs good management and at this stage that’s it, everyone has to play their role,” said Infrastructure Minister Miguel Pinto Luz as he left a ministerial meeting in Brussels.
TAP President Luis Rodriguez said in an interview with the Financial Times published today that the state should retain a stake in the airline after privatization and that investors should be attracted from outside the aviation sector.
“My recommendation would be for the Portuguese government to maintain its position and be part of the whole development process,” the TAP leader told a British newspaper.
