Due to Taylor Swift’s concert at the Estádio da Luz on May 24 and 25, there will be some restrictions on traffic on several highways in the Benfica area of Lisbon, as well as on reserving and leaving parking spaces.
The official opening time to the public is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., but the Public Safety Police (PSP) says it has already begun its policing efforts, focusing on parking and vehicle traffic enforcement.
Authorities say it will be necessary to guarantee reserved parking spaces on the following arteries:
– Avenida Hernani Lopes (direction Laranjeiras – Alto dos Moinhos) – until 8 am on May 26.
– EMEL car park, located under the Avenida Lusíada viaduct, between Rua Galileu Galilei and Largo da Revista Militar – until 12:00 on May 26.
– Avenida Machado Santos (on both sides and along the entire length) – until 16:00 on May 26.
– Dead end on Calle João de Freitas Branco (near Park 8 – Rotunda das Oliveiras) – until 16:00 on May 26th.
– Cosme Damian Square / EMEL Park – until midnight on May 26th.
To ensure the safety of the event, PSP will “consistently and only to the extent strictly necessary” introduce several traffic restrictions, as follows:
– Avenida Machado Santos (in both directions) and the arteries coming to it – from 8 a.m. on May 24 to 2 a.m. on May 26;
– Avenida Eusébio da Silva Ferreira (access to Park -3 and Avenida do Colégio Militar) – from 14:00 on May 24 to 2:00 on May 25 and from 14:00 on May 25 to 2:00 on the same day on May 26;
– Dead end on Rua João de Freitas Branco (near Park 8 – Rotunda das Oliveiras) – until 16:00 on May 26;
– Praça Cosme Damião (EMEL parking lot) – until 24:00 on May 26;
– Avenida do Colégio Militar (between Rua Galileu Galilei and Avenida Condes de Carnide) – close traffic before the end of each concert until the audience has completely left.
Public transport will be severely limited.
PSP reports that use public transport to avoid driving vehicles close to the stadium. Travel early. If you are using your own vehicle, follow the directions of the police and therefore park in designated secure parking areas. ANDDo not carry suitcases or backpacks with you into the stadium.
The authorities urge people who come to the stadium to “adopt responsible behavior and approaches appropriate to the musical environment, respectful of all participants, avoiding propaganda and participation in conflicts and/or situations involving changes in public order.”
