A 56-year-old man was arrested after repeatedly attacking an on-duty PSP officer with a baton this Wednesday during lunch on the EN14 highway in Lesa do Balio, Matosinhos.
According to the official PSP source, the incident occurred at 12:30 in the Porto Maya direction of the EN14 motorway, near the south Maya exit. The policeman and another man followed him in two cars and both stopped on the side of the road. Both got out of their cars and after an exchange of words, the 56-year-old man attacked the police officer with a baton.
The reason for this incident could be a possible misunderstanding of traffic conditions.
PSP officers were called to the scene. A 56-year-old man was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon. As a precaution, the officer went to the hospital, as did a woman in one of the cars.
