Marta Temido says government housing ‘auction’ doesn’t solve ‘problem’

Marta Temido, who heads the list of the Socialist Party (PS) in the European elections, is the woman who interviewed José Carlos Castro this Wednesday in the Grande Jornal newspaper. CMTV. On housing, the former health minister hopes there will be a greater focus on investment in public housing. “The auction of government measures does not meet the problems of the base,” he said.

On immigration, the PS MP says she knows there is discomfort with recent photographs of queues outside AIMA – the Agency for Migration and Refugee Integration.

“We also know that there was a restructuring of the service, which had the logic of a subsequent better response. If we had not faced this change, the problem would have remained unresolved,” he said.

Regarding a European pact on migration and asylum, Marta Temido suggests that European socialists would go further. “We believe the pact contains some opportunities, but also some risks,” he said.

“We are committed to improving the pact and paying close attention to its implementation in member states. We solve the problem not with closed borders. When we have very closed systems, human trafficking networks have an advantage,” he assured.

Regarding the defense portfolio, he intends to strengthen the overall approach to defense issues. “The European Union must be prepared for the need to respond. All developments must be carried out with the assistance of NATO,” the deputy said.

Martha Temido ensures that renewable energy “is the way forward” and that it is good for the environment, families and businesses. “We can’t accept that people don’t have money to buy food because they have to pay their energy bills.”

When asked if she supports Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, the MP replied that the Socialists have a candidate. “Nicholas Schmit is our candidate,” he concluded.
