Just over an hour before American singer Taylor Swift’s concert at Lisbon’s Estádio da Luz stadium, thousands of people were still waiting to enter, some breaking through security barriers despite organizers’ pleas for calm.
Outside the stadium, where Taylor Swift is performing the first of two sold-out concerts this Friday, there were still long lines to get in while Paramore were already performing, providing the first half of shows.
According to testimony collected by Lusa, public barriers to phased entry of people were torn down at at least one of the stadium’s access points.
After this collapse, many people began to run indoors.
Lusa also found food thrown in the trash by security, which was taken by spectators.
Many were also forced to leave portable mobile phone chargers at the entrance.
Thousands of people, mostly young girls and teenagers, gathered in the vicinity of the Da Luz stadium in Lisbon to watch the concert of singer Taylor Swift in the morning.
The stadium doors were scheduled to open only at 16:00, but, as is usually the case at concerts of the most popular bands and artists, there were also those who slept in tents waiting for a better place.
“The Eras Tour” in Portugal, initially for one show only, was announced in June last year. Tickets went on sale in July, but interested parties needed to register to gain access to purchase.
Ticket prices ranged from 62.50 to 539 euros, to which taxes were added, and they sold out in a short time, as happened for all dates of this tour.
The Paramore concert was scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m.
