Putin claims Zelensky is no longer president

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday said the only legitimate power in Ukraine now lies with the Ukrainian parliament rather than the president, saying Vladimir Zelensky’s term expired on May 20.

“The Constitution of Ukraine provides for the extension of powers, but only the Rada [Parlamento]Putin acknowledged that Ukrainian law prohibits holding presidential elections during martial law, but said that this does not mean that the functions of the current head of state are automatically extended by the Constitution.
