It is the largest book fair in Lisbon (FLL): this year Parque Eduardo VII reaches its capacity limit with 350 pavilions, two new areas, extended opening hours and a strong commitment to accessibility for people with special needs. And if last year the event organized by APEL (Portuguese Association of Publishers and Booksellers) broke the record of visitors, reaching 894 thousand in 20 days, this year Pedro Sobral would like to see a million in the park.
“We are committed to this goal,” said the president of APEL Correio da Manhã. “Although we don’t work for numbers, the truth is that the more people we reach, the faster we will reach the European Union average reading level,” he explained. “This is the work that is carried out at the Fair: the formation and popularization of reading habits. We want to do this with as many people as possible,” he concluded.
The 94th episode of FLL begins today and ends June 16th. You have 19 days to view and purchase books; communicate with the authors; eat, drink and walk; attend lectures and debates or take your children to the many events held in this place, especially for the little ones.
