Five of the seven arrested for robbery and qualified theft in Vila Nova de Famalicão, Barcelos and Braga will await trial in pre-trial detention. The decision was announced this Wednesday by the investigating judge of the Guimarães court, who released the other two detainees, leaving them with only the validity of their identity and residence cards.
The detainees, six men and one woman aged between 20 and 34, had been under investigation since October last year when they fired several shots at a robbery victim in Joana, Vila Nova de Famalicão, and beat another victim.
Most recently, since the end of April, the group has been stealing payment machines from bakeries and restaurants, causing losses of several thousand euros.
