Relatives of Portuguese-Israeli hostages waited 236 days for a miracle

Eli Sharabi, Idan Shtivi and Or Levy are three Portuguese-Israelis captured by Hamas on October 7, 2023. The family members lived for 236 days with a single mission: to achieve their release.

“If Hamas releases the hostages, the war will end like a miracle,” admits Osnat, the sister of Eli and Yossi Sharabi, who were kidnapped on the day of the attack. Yossi died at the hands of Hamas, but the family believes Eli is still alive. Raz, Eli’s son-in-law, tells CM that the family has been talking to the Israeli government and the Israeli people for eight months to reiterate the importance of releasing the hostages, but believes that the trips they are making around the world to report on the tragedy that occurred on October 7 can really make a difference. “If everyone comes together and demands the release of the hostages, the war in Gaza will end,” says Raz.

Omri Shtivi, who witnessed the kidnapping of his 28-year-old brother Idan during the Nova music festival, also remains hopeful. TO CM, says his brother was traveling in a car with two young men, trying to escape from Hamas terrorists, but was eventually captured. Two other young men were killed on the spot.
