At the end of a visit to Olano, Portugal, in the municipality of Guarda, the MEP candidate was questioned by journalists about an alleged document showing what the mother of Portuguese-Brazilian twins treated at the Santa Maria hospital told the children’s doctor. that she has all the signatures to undergo treatment in Portugal, including the signature of the former Minister of Health.

In her response, Marta Temido stated that she did not know about this document and emphasized that such processes “are not even authorized by the Minister of Health.”

“I can only say what I have already said: I do not know more about this matter than what I have already mentioned, and that I am ready to tell you again, wherever I am asked, that I do not know the mother. I do not know Doctors, I really don’t know anything else about it,” he said.

We are talking about the treatment in 2020 of two twins living in Brazil with the drug Zolgensma who received Portuguese citizenship.

The drug, which costs four million euros (two million euros per person), is designed to control the spread of spinal muscular atrophy, a neurodegenerative disease.

This case was published by TVI last November and is still being investigated by the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGR), with the Inspectorate General of Medical Activities (IGAS) having already concluded that access to neuropediatric consultation for these children was illegal.
