Luis Filipe Menezes was charged with aggravated libel and aggravated bodily harm. We are talking about the former mayor accusing the current mayor of Vila Nova de Gaia of interfering in the land licensing process in Francelos.
In a Facebook post in October, Menezes accused Eduardo Vitor Rodriguez of being the “initiator” of “criminal coups,” such as changing technical opinions, to harm him. The prosecutor’s office now points out that the publication is based on “untrue facts” and “it is not true that the president of the municipality of Gaya interfered in any way with the process of licensing the defendant’s land.” The indictment also states that Menezes, by identifying Eduardo Vitor Rodriguez in the text, “and associating him with banditry, criminal and illegal activities, called into question his honor, his good name and the respect due to him for the performance of public functions.” .
Thus, Menezes is accused of the crime of libel, aggravated by the status of the offended person, as well as a crime against an organization, service or legal entity, aggravated by advertising or slander.
