A 35-year-old man suspected of bringing drugs into a Porto prison will await the completion of his trial in preventive detention, the Judicial Police (PJ) said on Friday.
According to the SP statement, the man was arrested at the scene of a crime on Thursday in the city of Maia, Porto district, on suspicion of being responsible for a crime related to drug trafficking.
According to PJ, during a series of searches the man was found to have about 25 grams of heroin.
According to the judiciary, the detainee has already been mentioned as the alleged author of “several releases of drugs into the courtyard of the Porto prison, intended for prisoners who would then sell them inside the walls at higher prices.”
“Thanks to the intervention of prison guards, some of these substances were intercepted and handed over to the police, who began to investigate the situation,” the same note states.
Also, according to the joint venture, the suspect, who was under house arrest for committing crimes against property, was present at the first judicial interrogation, and now the most serious coercive measure was applied to him.
