This Sunday, the PNP announced the arrest of a 41-year-old man in the municipality of Almeirim, Santarem district, for not complying with the enforcement of house arrest.
In a statement sent to Lusa, the GNA territorial command in Santarem said the man was detained on Thursday during a crime prevention operation in the city of Almeirim.
The VNR territorial posts in Almeirim and Alpiars launched an operation during which they inspected several locations that could be linked to the receipt of materials resulting from theft and robbery.
During the operation, PNP officers located and detained this man, subject to the issuance of an arrest warrant for failure to comply with the coercive measure of house arrest.
The detainee, who has a criminal record, was taken to the Caldas da Rainha prison to serve an effective prison sentence of six months, and the facts were transferred to the Seixal Judicial Court in the District of Setúbal, GNR said.
