The Judicial Police (PJ) detained a foreign national wanted in the Netherlands for violating parole in that state after he was found guilty of murder and injury to physical integrity, the criminal police service said this Sunday.
According to a note released by the SP, the 38-year-old was detained in Lisbon during an operation carried out by the Criminal Information Unit.
The joint venture explained that the man robbed and beat a man to death in 2012 and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
He was eventually released on parole, but he did not comply with the conditions he was required to comply with in that situation, so the Dutch authorities decided that he would have to serve another year in prison.
However, he was taken to the Lisbon Court of Appeal, which ordered him to be placed in preventive detention pending the completion of extradition proceedings.
